LATEST UPDATE: Full November SNAP Benefits On the Way!

Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) will begin issuing full November SNAP benefits onto EBT cards beginning today. With the federal government soon reopening after last night’s events, Colorado will pivot from the previous U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) guidance to issue partial benefits and is poised to begin the EBT card filing process today to issue benefits in full.

CDHS will issue text alerts to those signed up for text communications about this great news over the next few days. Benefit recipients do not need to take any action other than checking their EBT cards for their November SNAP benefit balance.

Last night’s events in the U.S. House of Representatives included voting on a Senate-passed bill that will fund federal agencies through January 30th, 2026, and will fund USDA’s SNAP program through September 30th, 2026.

We want to remind SNAP recipients of a few things while you wait for benefits to load onto your EBT cards over the coming days.

  • The local food pantry and food bank resources remain available to you. Check the resources tab on this website for options.
  • CDHS reminds SNAP EBT cardholders to protect themselves from potential fraud. Steps to take to do so, tips, and a video can be found at https://cdhs.colorado.gov/colorado-ebt
  • Local events and opportunities from the Gunnison Country Food Pantry, Mt. Crested Butte, and the Mountain Roots Food Project are still occurring and open to those in need.

This page was developed to keep the community informed and updated on the status of November SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), to provide a current list of resources available to those affected, and also includes information on how the community can help the individuals and families affected. The information listed above can be found in the tabbed sections below.

Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has informed the State of Colorado that November 2025 SNAP benefits are being held. This hold affects all SNAP recipients statewide and is not a Gunnison County decision.

All current recipients of SNAP benefits will receive an official letter from the Colorado Department of Human Services announcing the hold in the coming days; some may have already received this letter. To ensure timely updates, recipients should verify that their contact information is current in their Colorado PEAK portal or through the Gunnison County Health and Human Services office. Please monitor your Colorado PEAK account for the latest information: https://co.gov/peak.
