Juvenile Suspects Taken into Custody in Gunnison County on Multiple Felony WarrantsGunnison County, CO – On the afternoon of September 26, 2025, law enforcement agencies in Gunnison County assisted the Montrose Police Department in the apprehension of four juvenile males wanted on multiple felony warrants.At approximately 3:31 PM, the juveniles were taken into custody without incident by the Gunnison County Sheriff’s Office in the area of White Pine, Colorado, located within Gunnison County. The arrests were made pursuant to active warrants for the following charges:• Conspiracy to Commit Menacing• Menacing• Assault in the First Degree• Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile• Accessory to Assault in the First Degree with a FirearmDue to their age, the identities of the juvenile suspects will not be released at this time.This operation was conducted in coordination with multiple law enforcement partners to ensure the safe and effective execution of the arrests. FLOOD WATCH in effect Thursday, 9/11, through 9/13 for Gunnison County and surrounding areas.
Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. Excessive runoff from strong thunderstorms may result in
debris flows and flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other
low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Be alert for fast-changing conditions and possible debris flows in vulnerable areas.
Areas of concern include: Elk Mountains/Central Mountain Valleys, Central Gunnison and Uncompahgre River Basin, West Elk and Sawatch Mountains, Flat Tops-Upper Gunnison River Valley, cities of Mount Crested Butte, Marble, Pitkin, and Gunnison.

Gold Basin & Slate River Road Spring Restrictions in Effect
Spring Road Restrictions in Effect
As warmer temperatures arrive, Gunnison County is implementing seasonal weight limits to protect our roads during spring thaw conditions. These restrictions help prevent damage and ensure safe, long-term use for everyone.
Beginning March 17, 2026:
• CR 734 (Slate River Road): 15-ton limit from CR 317 (Gothic Road) to the end of winter maintenance at the trailhead• CR 38 (Gold Basin Road): 10-ton limit from Bambi Parking Area south to the Saguache County line

Electronics Recycling March 28
Gunnison County offers quarterly electronics recycling every quarter.
The next opportunity to recycle your old computers, keyboards, and other electronic equipment will be Saturday, March 28 from 9:00 a.m. to noon on the north end of the Recycle Center at Gunnison County Public Works facility (195 Basin Park Drive, Gunnison).
