Choice Pass
About Choice Pass
The Choice Pass is a celebration of healthy choices and it is an opportunity for all 6th through 12th grade youth. Students make a pledge to stay substance use free and make healthy choices for themselves throughout the year. In return, they earn 'perks' form multiple local businesses in Gunnison and Crested Butte. The biggest 'perks' being with our Key Partners, that offer them HUGE discounts on membership passes such as a discounted ski pass to Crested Butte Mountain Resort. The Gunnison Valley community supports all youth in the Choice Pass Program by offering these great rewards for committing to a healthy lifestyle and making good choices.

Make a choice and commit to it. It's empowering. It's the feeling of success. It's your CHOICE!
What does it take to become a Choice Pass holder?
All students have to do is make a choice to commit to a healthy and substance free lifestyle.
There is NO cost to enroll in the Choice Pass.
*Parents and youth must attend a Choice Pass sign-up night. We know families are busy; that's why we offer eight sign-up nights: three in Crested Butte, four in Gunnison (three in English and one in Spanish), and one in Lake City. You can attend the one most convenient to you. Sign-up nights are held in September and October each year. Unfortunately, if you miss sign-ups your child is not eligible until the following school year. Make sure to keep an eye out in local newspapers, our website, emails, school newsletters, and audibly from KBUT.
By simply enrolling, students gain access to local business discounts (around 40 throughout the Gunnison Valley!) and Choice Pass community events.
Once enrolled, students have a selection of opportunities to enjoy- the highlight being a discounted pass at Crested Butte Mountain Resort.
Parents must attend one education event through the year. Events are scheduled monthly from November to May on weeknights. They are a combination of in person and virtual. Topics include drugs and alcohol, development, sexual health, mental health, social media, and more.
Youth are held accountable by attending random drug testing within 24 hours of notification. Drug testing happens monthly from November to May.
