Elections Office
Purpose
The purpose of the Elections Office is to provide registration and voting services to those who are eligible to vote in Gunnison County so they can successfully cast their ballot in a timely and accurate manner.

Gunnison County takes pride in being transparent to its citizens. If you are looking for Public Records or to make a Colorado Open Records Request, click here for the online form. Once filled out click on Submit and your request will be forwarded to the appropriate department.

Vote in Honor of a Veteran
The Vote In Honor Of A Veteran program will give you the opportunity to cast your vote in honor of a service member who has served our country in the United States Military. It is our service men and women who protect our right to vote and guard our democracy with honor. Cast your vote this November and remember those who sacrifice so that you can continue to cast a ballot every election. This year, you can recognize that effort by wearing a personalized button from the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office to express your appreciation of a specific service member or veteran. Upcoming/Current Election
The 2024 Presidential Primary will occur on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024. Below is basic information and links to help you get started and check your registration. To view all VSPC and Dropbox Locations, click the Voting & Dropbox Locations tab at the top.
Register to Vote / Update Voter Information
You have options to register to vote or to update your voter information. If you have questions please call the Gunnison County Elections Office at (970) 641-7927.
- Online: You can register or update your information online by visiting GoVoteColorado.gov. You can also review your current registration status, your mail ballot status, change your name, affiliation, or withdraw your registration if you have moved out of Gunnison County or the State of Colorado.
- In Person / Over the Phone: You can visit the Clerk & Recorders office located in the Blackstock Government Center at 221 N. Wisconsin St. in Gunnison, call us at (970) 641-7927, or visit any of our open VSPC's up to and including Election Day to register or update your information and receive a ballot.
- Pre-fill & Drop Off: If you would like to fill out a Voter Registration Form to mail in or drop off at the Clerk's Office, you can download those forms here.
Mail Ballot Election
Colorado law now allows for same day voter registration as long as the voter meets the 22 day residency requirement and can provide acceptable identification (click here to see acceptable forms) to vote their ballot. For those voters registering for the first time or changing precincts, applications can be made in the County Clerk's Office during regular business hours of Monday - Friday 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Replacement ballots can be obtained during those hours as well during an active election.
Military Absentee Vote by Mail
Uniformed Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA)
Any registered voter of Gunnison County residing overseas and serving in the United States Military can request an Application for Military Faxed Absentee Voter Ballot. Download an online Application for a Military Faxed Absentee Voter Ballot Form and mail to the following address:

- Ballot Information Booklet (Blue Book): The Colorado Legislative Council has developed a ballot information booklet to provide voters with the text, title, and a fair and impartial analysis of each initiated or referred constitutional amendment, law, or question on the ballot. The analysis must include a summary of the measure, the major arguments both for and against the measure, and a brief fiscal assessment of the measure. The analysis may also include any other information that will help voters understand the purpose and effect of a measure. The website contains an English version, Spanish version, and an Audio Book version.

Ballot Dropbox
What is a Ballot Dropbox? A Ballot Dropbox is a secure box that allows for 24/7 drop off of ballots during the election period. These boxes are under 24/7 recorded surveillance and placed in accessible locations for easy drop off.

ADA Accessible voting machines are available at any of the above Voter Polling Service Centers (VSPC).
Anyone wishing to register or change their voter registration information may do so by coming into the Clerk & Recorders Office located in the Blackstock Government Building at 221 N. Wisconsin St, in Gunnison during normal business hours of Monday - Friday 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. You may also call (970) 641-7927, or click here for the Colorado Secretary of State's website.
