[ARCHIVED] Construction Kick-Off Meetings

It is rapidly turning to summer in Gunnison County and with that comes long-anticipated plans to break ground on new projects, do an addition, start a remodel, or fix a septic system. We at the Gunnison County Community Development Department want to make your plans go from dreams to reality as seamlessly as possible. Since last summer, we added some new faces and modified some positions on our experienced team, which is comprised of members that have deep roots in Gunnison County. Also we have some new proposed regulations related to ISDS/On Site Waste Water Treatment Systems, marijuana facilities, and Reclamation Permits that will be considered this summer.

We would like to invite all contractors, ISDS installers, architects, developers, real estate agents and anyone else who may be interested in development in unincorporated Gunnison County to come to one of two open houses and presentations scheduled for 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 5th on the 2nd Floor of the Blackstock Government Center at 221 N. Wisconsin Street in Gunnison. We would like to introduce ourselves to you, review our commitment to customer service, and briefly hit on a number of suggestions that will help you to successfully navigate our land use, building code, Sage-grouse and ISDS regulations. Many of our other partners in the development review process, such as the Public Works Department and the Wildlife Conservation Coordinator, will also be available to answer any questions you may have. Specific topics we will hit on include:
• Applications/permits – what to expect and how to get approval as fast as possible;
• How to use our permit tracking system and website to apply for and track permits and obtain related information;
• New septic system requirements;
• Proposed marijuana regulations related to cultivation, manufacturing and testing;
• Sage-grouse pre-application meetings;
• Reclamation and road/driveway permits;
• Land Use Change applications; and
• Top 10 things to make your construction project run smoothly.

We will serve a light breakfast during the morning session, and burgers and brats will be provided during the afternoon session.

Our fundamental goal in managing our development review process is to make sure that every customer is treated fairly, and that we continue to have an incredible quality of life in Gunnison County through a high-quality built and natural environment.

We look forward to seeing you on the 5th!
