[ARCHIVED] County Offices Closed - Labor Day

On June 28th, 1894, President Grover Cleveland signed Labor Day into law as a federal holiday as a way to recognize the work force which at the time had little recourse in making better working environments, poor pay, and lack of child labor laws. Before it was recognized as a federal holiday, may states had already passed legislation defining the first Monday in September as a workingmen’s holiday.
