September is National Preparedness Month! Are you ready for a power outage?

If the power goes out, here are a few things to keep in mind:

๐Ÿ”Œ Unplug appliances and electronics to avoid damage from electrical surges
โ„ Keep the refrigerator and freezer closed so food lasts longer
๐Ÿ”น If the temp in your fridge is 40 degrees or higher when power's restored, throw the food out
---
While using a portable generator:
๐Ÿ”น Keep it outside, at least 15 ft. from the house
๐Ÿ”น Keep it dry & properly grounded
๐Ÿ”น Never plug the generator into a wall outlet or main electrical panel
โš  Only use generators outside, away from windows
