Mission Statement
The Gunnison County Housing Authority’s mission is to advocate, promote, plan and provide a long-term supply of desirable and affordable housing in Gunnison County in order to maintain a well-rounded community.
Welcome to those of you visiting our website for information regarding our programs and affordable housing opportunities. We think the Gunnison Valley is a very special place to live. The GCHA works to ensure that ALL of those wishing to call this beautiful Valley home find a diverse selection of housing from which to choose.
What Does GCHA Do?
Gunnison County Housing Authority is focused on building and owning affordable rental housing with the objective of holding these units in perpetuity and maintaining cost affordability. When there is excess rent revenue after management, maintenance and funding replacement reserves, the County Housing Authority will use the revenue to reinvest to achieve the Board's strategic goals for housing and other community needs.
The Housing Authority’s work includes:
Homeownership Programs – Administering deed-restricted ownership programs, including buyer and seller guidance, eligibility determinations, and compliance oversight.
Property Management – Maintaining Authority-owned properties to ensure safety, durability, and livability while balancing operating costs and long-term reserves.
Energy & Efficiency Programs (GV-HEAT) – Administering programs that improve energy efficiency, reduce utility costs, and support housing stability.
