Interested in spending less on your household expenses?
Sign Up for An Energy Assessment in Gunnison or Hinsdale County
Sign up for a home energy assessment, valued at $500 for a cop-pay of $50 or less and take the first step toward lower energy bills and a comfortable home.
During the assessment, an energy analyst will identify where your home is losing energy and recommend ways to improve efficiency. To qualify for the discounted assessment rate, submit your utility account numbers when you enroll.
You may also be eligible for free 'direct installs' such as LED lightbulbs, programmable thermostats, pipe insulation, or weatherstripping based on the findings and at the time of your home energy assessment.
This opportunity is open to all incomes. For homes larger than 3,000 sqft. an additional assessment fee will be calculated to be covered by the homeowner.

Energy Smart Colorado Rebate Opportunity
Cut down on drafts and lower energy bills with insulation and air sealing upgrades.
If your household earns up to 150% Area Median Income (AMI) or you are a Community Priority Member residing in Gunnison or Hinsdale County in your primary residence, you may qualify for up to $4,000 in Energy Smart Colorado rebates on measures making your home more comfortable and energy efficient, as recommended in your energy report. You may qualify for
- A rebate up to $2,000 towards air sealing and/or insulation up to 75% of the project cost with an achieved air leakage reduction of at least 10%
- A rebate of up to $2,000 towards electrification measures, such as electrical upgrades, cold climate heat pumps or heat pump water heaters, as long as recommended air sealing and / or insulation measures have been installed or are not recommended
- Homeowners and Renters both qualify.

Other Tax Incentives and Rebate Opportunities
Households may be eligible for tax incentives or rebates related to upgrades/retrofits that they have undertaken to improve the home’s efficiency, comfort, and safety.

- Colorado Home Energy Rebate Program - HEAR Program: Offered to households up to 150% of the area median income, the HEAR Program is providing point-of-sale rebates (through registered contractors) for home electrification and weatherization improvements. Households may combine electrification and air sealing and insulation projects to a maximum rebate of $14,000 – at 50% of the cost of the qualified electrification project. Those up to 80% AMI will qualify for 100% of their costs to be covered up to the maximum rebate amounts.
