For Immediate Release:  March 14, 2020

ACCESS LIMITED TO GUNNISON COUNTY BUILDINGS DURING SPREAD OF COVID-19

All Essential County Services are Still Being Provided; Anyone Who is Ill Should Stay Home

Gunnison County, Colo – Gunnison County is announcing that access to its facilities is restricted, effective Monday, March 16, 2020 due to the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Colorado. These restrictions are in place until April 8, when these precautions will be re-evaluated.

All essential County services are still being provided, though residents are urged to conduct any other business with the County by phone, if possible. All online services are available as usual and a complete contact list for County departments and offices is available at https://www.gunnisoncounty.org/directory.aspx

Anyone feeling ill, exhibiting a cough, fever or respiratory issues should stay home, and will not be allowed inside County facilities. It’s a good idea to call ahead to the department or office you’re conducting business with to see what services are available before traveling to County buildings.

As a reminder, Gunnison County Health and Human Services Director Joni Reynolds issued a “Standing Public Health Order Related to Events” on 3/13/2020 that prohibits all local events of 50 people or more.  Events with fewer than 50 attendees are also prohibited unless event organizers can mitigate the risks outlined on page 3 of the Order, which can be viewed at https://www.gunnisoncounty.org/DocumentCenter/View/10194/Standing-Public-Health-Order-Related-to-Events-PDF?bidId=
