Project Specialist for the Substance Abuse Prevention Project

The Juvenile Services Department is hiring a Thirty-Five hour/week Project Specialist for the Substance Abuse Prevention Project. The position requires graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in prevention work, education, or related field; at least two years of progressively responsible experience in prevention education and/or a community organizing/outreach position, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that the County deems appropriate.

The position includes: Delivering prevention education within RE1J schools; Coordinating and managing the Choice Pass Program; Working with community entities, college and school district to ensure implementation of GCSAPP strategic plan; Promoting awareness of substance abuse and promoting community wellness; Utilizing evidence based strategies to impact community level wellness and change; Coordinating the collection and documentation of local needs assessment data; Developing reports based on data analysis to be used in community awareness and marketing of issues; Grant writing for additional funding opportunities and project sustainability; Presenting data, prevention methods and education to the community through public speaking and presentations. Position requires someone who is detail oriented, has excellent public speaking skills, able to self-motivate in a fast-paced work environment, strong writing and marketing skills, strong data analysis and evaluation skills, has grant-writing and management skills, is comfortable teaching in the RE-1J schools, is able to travel between Gunnison and Crested Butte on a regular basis, and to Denver and nationally for annual conferences. The position is supervised by the GCSAPP Program Manager and Juvenile Services Director.

Beginning wage is $17.11/hr, with possible 5% increase at 6 months successful completion of a one year probationary period. Full fringe benefit package.

Nurturing Parenting Program Coordinator and Parent Facilitator

Public Health Division of Gunnison County Dept of Health & Human Services has immediate opening for a part time position for the Nurturing Parenting Program Coordinator and Parent Facilitator (NPP). NPP Coordinator is 15 hrs/week with additional 5 hrs/wk during class sessions as Parent Facilitator.

NPP is a family-strengthening program for parents and children with parenting classes meeting Thursday evenings for 16 weeks, offered twice a year. In addition to coordinating the volunteers and the Thursday evening program, the coordinator also seeks funding through grant writing and fund raisers, budget management and overall promotion of NPP in the community. Education: Bachelor’s degree prepared in related field to human services. Two years work experience in early childhood education related fields may substitute for Bachelor’s degree. Eligibility Technician

Gunnison County Department of Health and Human Services seeks a qualified person to fill the 30 hour/week position of Eligibility Technician to provide generalist public assistance program eligibility and case maintenance in areas of food assistance, adult and child financial and medical assistance, energy programs and possibly fraud investigation services. Education and experience include required High School education or equivalent, at least one year of work in the public sector preferably in human services area or any combination of education and experience that Gunnison County deems appropriate to perform the duties of this position. Must have current computer skills, positive client engagement skills, ability to glean and apply knowledge of program areas and Rules and Regulations, Spanish language skill is preferred.
